Candlelight Vigil for our Troops.

topic posted Thu, September 9, 2004 - 9:44 AM by  Devils Playt...
1,000 American soldiers have now been killed in Iraq.

Will you join me in an emergency candlelight vigil, on Thursday evening, September 9th, to honor them and reflect on the loss of their lives?

Our vigil will be simple and dignified. We'll gather at 8:00 P.M., and stand in a circle, silently, for 45 minutes or so. Together, we'll acknowledge the sacrifice made by these 1,000 brave American men and women.

Please sign up to come, at:

Here are the details:

Federal Building: Aviation & Marine
Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
Thursday, September 9, 08:00 PM

Vigils just like this one will happen throughout the country. So, even if you can't come to the one listed above, you can click on this link to find a different one closer to you, or to create one of your own:

Please bring a candle for yourself, an extra one or two if you can, and matches or a lighter.

I hope you can come -- it's important that we mark this solemn occasion together.

Thank you.

I do honor and mourn those that died on Sept. 11. But this memorial also makes me angry because of the actions of our current President. And it's hard to separate the two. President Bush is conducting a "war" on terrorism and I don't support it. And I don't believe we are at "war." So, forgive me for making a political statement when all you requested was participation in a candlelight vigil. But the dead are dead. And some of us still alive are confronted with anger, frustration, and powerlessness under the yoke of the tyrannical Bush administration......

I completely understand, Byron. You're not the only one angry with the actions of the (I won't say "our" because there are some of us who still don't accept him) President. Believe me hon, his picture never left my dart board during the past 4 years. So please, Byron, feel free to express your anger. By all means. I don't mind. If you're not angry, you're not paying attention.

I totally understand, Byron. We went to a concert on Sat, and they had a 9-11 remembrance. Someone called me unpatriotic because I did not flock down to the stage and hold my hand at my heart. I believe the dead should be mourned for a year, and then buried. If we never bury our dead, we will continually open this wound and stay in a state of fear and suffering. It is amazing to me how people have been brainwashed into calling others unpatriotic and having such a communistic thought process. I will not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I know, how sad it is. But then again, celebrating the lives of the dead is the reason the Mexicans have Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead.

Celebrating is one thing. I love Dia Day Los Muertos. They do celebrate, party down with their ancestors. We don't usually as Americans. We are more about dwelling on the past. Don't get me wrong, the candle-light vigil is very nice, there are soldiers out there dying right now in this war. I am speaking more toward the whole 9-11 thing.
